Forty-Six

When tao is present among people

there is plenty to go around.

When tao is lacking among people

there is scarcity and infighting.

No crime is more destructive than greed.

Greed tricks us into thinking we can be

more

by getting more.

Clutching for quantity erodes quality.

When we stop looking ahead,

slow

down,

and pay attention

to whatever's right in front of us,

we often find we already have plenty.

Those who know enough is enough

are grateful for it.

So they always have enough.
