Sixty-Two

Tao rests

at the mysterious origin of all things.

A treasure for the good,

A refuge for the bad.

How can the bad be abandoned?

Honor can be traded with fine words,

but good behavior can only be learned

by example.

When new leaders are chosen,

don't give them titles.

Remain still and offer them the tao.

Why will the tao be esteemed by future

sages?

They will say, "with it we find without

looking,

with it we find forgiveness for our

transgressions."

That is why it is

treasure to the world.
